Unblanched almonds have a far better health value than blanched ones available in packets.
Can help lower cholesterol - In one study where people added 85g of almonds to their daily low fat diet they experienced an average 10% drop in cholesterol including the bad LDL type within 3 weeks.
Almonds provide a rich source of Vitamin E, a high source of Potassium and Calcium.
Per 100g almonds contain approx 55% fat of which 87% is unsaturated.
It is suggested that 25g of Almonds added to your daily food intake will supply 10% of your daily Calcium requirement.
Store in a jar in the fridge, once opened try to use within a few weeks.
You can freeze almonds in their shells for out of season use.
