Nectarines along with many other stone fruits are also members of the rose family.
Very similar to peaches without the fuzzy skin.
Nectarines have smooth skin that is usually red in colour with golden yellow highlights depending on the variety.
Under the skin is a juicy yellow, white or red flesh surrounding a medium sized seed.
A good nectarine will have a healthy appearance consistent with the variety.
Avoid cut or bruised fruit.
A ripe nectarine will give to gentle pressure.
Good source of Beta-Carotene, Fibre, Vitamin C & Vitamin A.
Also a source of Omega-6.

Once ripe a nectarine is best stored in the fridge.
To ripen place in a paper bag and store at room temperature.
Check on a daily basis. When the nectarine is fully ripened refrigerate and use within a few days.
