Egg shaped fruit also known as a tree tomato.

On the outside is a tough bitter skin that ranges in colour from glossy red to purple.
Under the skin you'll find a sour flavour packed flesh around many seeds.

Select firm unblemished tamarillos that feel heavy for their size.
Once ripe they will have a fragrant scent and will yield slightly to gentle pressure.
