Eggplant - Black Bell
Variety Description:
The most commonly available eggplant variety.
Usually large and cylindrical or pear-shaped.
Skin is usually a deep glossy purple colour.
Selection:
Look for eggplants with smooth and uniformly-coloured skin.
When squeezed, they should be springy, not spongy.
The presence of scars or bruises can indicate decay.
Favour eggplants that feel heavy for their size.
